SLOT ALLOCATION POLICY:
At least one slot shall be allocated to each five-year age group category in which any age group athlete sends in an application, both male and female, per the age group categories listed below. If there are no athletes entered in the race in a particular age group, then that slot will be moved to the largest starting populated age group in that same gender. For additional age group slots, slot allocation shall be representative of the actual number of age grouper applicants in each category in the race. As an example, if 8% of the age-group applicants are females 40-44, then 8% of these slots would be allocated in the female 40-44 category. Since the largest populated age group is dependant upon the number of starters, not the number of entrants, the distribution of slots could change after the race has begun.SLOT acceptance POLICY:
- Athletes must be present at the awards ceremony to claim their slots!
- You must bring a photo ID and cash or check (NO credit cards accepted!) for the 70.3 World Championship entry fee.
- Further details will be provided concerning the slot winners prior to the race and at the awards ceremony.
Ironman 70.3 Rolldown Procedure
- Athletes must be present at the rolldown to accept the slot. Rolldown is conducted in conjunction with the awards ceremony. If an athlete is not present to accept the slot, the slot will be forfeited to another athlete.
- Slots will rolldown to the next person in that category if an athlete earning the slot is not present or has declined the slot.
- Slots must be rolled down within the same category and gender.
- Any slot(s) rolled down through an entire age group without being claimed must be reassigned to the age group within that gender according to the slot distribution calculations.
- Pro slots cannot be assigned to age groups and age group slots cannot be assigned to pros. There are no exceptions!
- If an athlete accepts a slot, that slot must be used in the year it is assigned.
- If an athlete accepts a slot, they must immediately pay the world championship entry fee at the qualifying race using cash or check only.
- If an athlete accepts a slot but decides within 30 days to withdraw from the world championship, they must notify the race director at the qualifying race in writing. This slot can be rolled down during this 30-day period.
